God tends to be silent on matters of art and literary criticism.

Dear Reader,

Four months ago, the task of putting together another edition of The God Particle seemed too great to accomplish and too insignificant to justify the effort. What did art matter during wartime? My country had invaded Iraq without declaring war, using false pretenses to justify the action, despite the disapproval of the vast majority of the world. In March I became the co-editor of BushWhackedUSA. I wrote political articles. I went to protests and did what I could. During those weeks, The God Particle scarcely entered my mind.

But here it is: the next issue. How did it happen?

Two very kind people volunteered their support. Six weeks after I had accepted two of Audrey Johnson’s poems for this issue, she came aboard as Poetry Editor. At the same time, Laura C. Alonso offered her time and expertise as Fiction Editor, after serving as senior editor for the very fine (and sorely missed!) Fictionline.com. Audrey and Laura are excellent writers in their own right, and their contributions have made The God Particle better.

Now, after a month in Europe and a thousand-mile move to Montana, I’m proud to publish TGP’s third issue.

The wonderful poems, fiction and nonfiction in this edition have reminded me that, no matter what goes on in the world, art is worth the trouble. I look forward to many more years of The God Particle.

Enjoy!

Best wishes,

-Eric Bosse
